Emma Vonder Haar
Emma Vonder Haar is a designer and artist who primarily focuses on hand-drawn type. With a background in calligraphy, she learned early in her career as a designer how fulfilling (and fun!) it can be to create type by hand. In addition to creative lettering with traditional tools, she loves creating type with unexpected mediums (like food!). Her freelance clients include lululemon, Famous Footwear, and American Family Insurance, and she regularly teaches calligraphy workshops throughout St. Louis.
Class Description
“Exploring Tactile Type”
In this workshop, Emma will introduce students to creating a type arrangement with food and objects. Students will have an opportunity to explore creative lettering styles in pen and paper sketch, then translate that lettering onto a flat surface by arranging materials.
